Of all the places I ate in Montréal, this one takes the cake. I came across this mac & cheese bar on Yelp weeks before I stepped foot in the city. It was everything I wanted and more. When I walked in, the host was beyond nice and helped me narrow down my options. He told me one of the most popular dishes was the Philly Mac so I picked it over the Philly Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

The Philly Mac comes with steak, cheddar & mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions and mushrooms. The price might seem a little daunting ($17.25 CAD), but the portion size made it all worth it. It lasted through two meals and a late night snack. Trust me, you won’t regret making this stop during your trip.

Once you lay your eyes on these cookies, you’ll see why they’re so popular. I found out about Decadent Dough on Instagram and ordered my cookies two weeks before my trip. When I arrived in Montréal, I scheduled a pickup time and made my way to what I thought would be a bakery. To my surprise, the company is ran by a young woman, who sells the cookies out of her home. They were smaller than expected, but didn’t disappoint. They melted in my mouth! These cookies are soft, sweet and rich. They also lasted throughout my weeklong trip. I popped them in the fridge the first day and days later, I warmed them up for 20 seconds to restore that same freshness from day one. I highly recommend Decadent Dough, but don’t forget to pre-order!
3. Bar à Beurre

For a sweet treat while you’re on the go, I recommend Bar à Beurre. From cupcakes and chocolates to macarons and croissants, they have it all. I stumbled upon Bar à Beurre on my final day in Montréal. It’s a cute little bakery, not far from the Old Port. I grabbed a croissant and the cookies & cream macaron. After the first bite, I wished I had purchased more.
4. C’Chocolat

I can’t finish this list without mentioning C’Chocolat. My friend and I came across this chocolate restaurant after having dinner at a jazz club. If the picture doesn’t already speak for itself, there’s really nothing I could say to convince you of it’s greatness. Inside that crêpe is a brownie, ice cream and strawberries. It’s heavy, but oh so delicious!
As you can tell, I love to pre-plan my trips, even when it comes to the food and catering to my sweet tooth. What about you? Are you a pre-planner or do you make decisions once you arrive?
